The delicious possibilities are endless with this crisp tasty tree fruit!  Up here in the Pacific Northwest, in Washington State, apples are everywhere during the fall season–hanging over fences in yards and out in parks around town.  They are sweet and delicious on their own, but apples fantastic in juices, smoothies, relishes and compotes and baked in sweet or savory dishes! Did you know there are more than 7,500 varieties grown throughout the world?! Apples are loaded with soluble fiber, reducing intestinal disorders and certain types of cancer. They help in controlling insulin levels and eliminating heavy metal toxins. In addition they are good for respiratory healthy and provide a source of potassium promoting heart health, so there is proven truth to the saying “an apple a day keeping the Doctor away”.

Eat the skin too since most of the vit A and C is found in the skin! Since apples are one of the fruits that contains the most pesticides buy organic when possible or thoroughly wash! One of my personal favorites is still the honey crisp, but apparently I have about 7,450 more varieties to try.
