Refreshing, Sweet, nutritious and delicious!  I often use whey protein in our morning smoothies, but a high-quality non-GMO Pea Protein is a great vegan alternative to whey or soy!  Whey protein is a top choice for muscle building because it is a fast-digesting protein. The amino acids break down rapidly and are transported through your bloodstream and quickly help to build muscle.  However, many folks need to avoid dairy in their diets, so pea protein is a great option!  It’s an easily digestible protein for most people and contains essential amino acids.  If it is the main source of protein for you though, you’ll want to add essential fatty acids to your diet in other forms.  Try this greens smoothie to jump start your day (Makes about 4 12 oz. servings)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen or fresh mango chunks
  • 1 banana
  • 2 cups frozen or fresh pineapple chunks
  • 2-3 handfuls spinach
  • 1 cup Green Plant juice (ie. Naked Juice’ Green Machine) or apple juice
  • 2 cups water or ice (water if you’re using frozen fruit chunks, ice if you’re using fresh)
  • 6 heaping Tbs pea protein

Directions

  1. Add your liquid first to your vitamin or other powerful blender. Then add your ice, fruit, spinach, and lastly pea protein.
  2. Blend well and distribute into cups
